Secrets To Traveling With A Baby On A Plane

Are you scared to travel with your baby? Don't be! I've done it many times since my son was about 8 months old. I didn't know what to expect on my first time traveling with him. Surprisingly he slept the whole time so it was pretty easy. Below are some tips that will make it smoother for you and your little one.

One of the best ways to travel with a baby is carrying him/her in a baby carrier. My favorite baby carrier is by Baby Bjorn. This carrier allows you to have your baby face towards you or face out to the world. I literally have my son face towards me sitting on my lap while his legs are spread wide open hugging my waist. I know it sounds funny but that's how he falls asleep, even when I put him down to take a nap. The carrier also helps with keeping your child down incase they want to move around a lot.

Second, paying for extra leg room will make you happier. Trust me! Having more room is more comfortable for you, your child and those around you. If your child is about to walk, having more room helps your child be able to stand and take a break from being on your lap.

Next, the most important thing to do is to travel at the times that your child takes a nap or sleep. You have no idea how much this will help you! You will have a smoother flight. It helps to travel at night for a redeye so that your baby is sleeping through most of the flight. This way you and your baby will be well rested. I know flights are not that comfortable but having some sleep is better than no sleep. Also, sometimes I order one glass of wine for myself, it helps with the stress lol!

Lastly, I can sit here and write about the things you should take in your bag but the truth is that every baby is different. Only you know what is best for your child and what he/ she will need. Some suggestions are some small toys that don't make noise but are entertaining for your child. Or some books that he/she can look through. Don't forget to wear comfortable clothes for you and your child. Makes a difference!
